Central African Republic is included in the site’s dated snapshot of FTX provider restrictions. A country restriction does not establish an individual claim’s status or transferability. Check the recorded amount, then request an individual purchase review. FTX SELL may decline a purchase.
Why the payout is unavailable
FTX explains no reasons by country. There are three providers, each deciding for itself, with the portal showing those that fit the residential address. For the CAR none does.
This country has a feature nobody else on the list has. In 2022 the CAR became the second country in the world to recognise bitcoin as legal tender, and a year later reversed the decision. So the country behind Africa's loudest crypto experiment ended up on a list of jurisdictions where cryptocurrency payouts are unavailable.
Nobody has claimed a connection between those two facts, and we do not assert one. We note only that the CAR's presence on the list cannot be explained by a ban on cryptocurrency.
The CAR belongs to the Central African monetary union along with Cameroon, Chad, the Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon. All six are on the list.
I am from this country. What do I do?
- Request an offer to sell your claim. Fill in the form: country, code and contact details. There is no obligation before signing.
- Check that the claim is allowed. The claims agent runs a public search that takes an FTX Customer Code with no portal login.
- Close out identity verification and tax forms if they are open. They do not depend on a provider, and nothing works without them.
