Cuba is included in the site’s dated snapshot of FTX provider restrictions. FTX SELL does not buy claims from this jurisdiction. Check your individual claim status and current provider guidance; a country list does not determine your claim’s legal status.
Why the payout is unavailable
Cuba is under a comprehensive US trade embargo that has been in force longer than any other restriction of its kind. As with Iran, the transaction itself is restricted rather than just the way money is received: buying a claim from a Cuban resident is prohibited.
There is no way around it. Arrangements through a third country or registering the claim in someone else's name do not solve the problem, they create a new one.
Cuba has a feature the other three refused jurisdictions do not. The restrictions there are built not as sanctions against particular people but as a prohibition on all trade with the territory. So it makes no difference to us who the seller is: the rule attaches to the place.
If you are a Cuban citizen but live and bank in another country, this does not apply to you. The restriction is worked out by place of residence.
What you can do now
Check the claim in the claims agent's public search. It takes an FTX Customer Code, needs no portal login and is available from anywhere.
Close out identity verification and tax forms. Without them no way of receiving money is possible, and they can be done independently of everything else.
The claim stays yours and does not expire because we will not buy it. It is recorded in your name on the register and stays there.
I am from this country. What do I do?
- Check that the claim is allowed. The claims agent runs a public search that takes an FTX Customer Code with no portal login.
- Close out identity verification and tax forms if they are open. They do not depend on a provider, and nothing works without them.
