Why the payout is unavailable
FTX publishes no reasons. The mechanism is the common one: three providers, each deciding for itself, with the portal showing those that fit the residential address.
Equatorial Guinea belongs to the Central African monetary union along with Cameroon, the CAR, Chad, the Republic of the Congo and Gabon. All six are on the list, all share one franc and one central bank.
A separate difficulty for the country is that it speaks Spanish, unlike its francophone partners in the union, while the FTX portal and all correspondence in the case are in English. That is not a reason for being on the list, but it is a reason why a creditor there runs into language more often than into rules.
I am from this country. What do I do?
- Request an offer to sell your claim. Fill in the form: country, code and contact details. There is no obligation before signing.
- Check that the claim is allowed. The claims agent runs a public search that takes an FTX Customer Code with no portal login.
- Close out identity verification and tax forms if they are open. They do not depend on a provider, and nothing works without them.
