Why the payout is unavailable
FTX explains no reasons by country. The mechanism is the common one: three providers, each deciding for itself, with the portal showing those that fit the residential address.
Somalia has a circumstance worth separating from the question of providers. Centralised banking in the country is being rebuilt after decades without it, and a large share of international transfers runs through informal networks rather than banks. That means even a provider appearing would not close the matter: the provider needs an account to send money to.
There have been no public statements that the providers rely on that.
What you can do now
Before waiting for a provider, find out whether you have an account one could actually send money to. For Somalia that is not a formality but the first question.
If there is no account, selling the claim solves the problem differently: settlement is in USDT or USDC rather than a bank transfer.
I am from this country. What do I do?
- Request an offer to sell your claim. Fill in the form: country, code and contact details. There is no obligation before signing.
- Check that the claim is allowed. The claims agent runs a public search that takes an FTX Customer Code with no portal login.
- Close out identity verification and tax forms if they are open. They do not depend on a provider, and nothing works without them.
